Falling Forward | The Matrix

If you've been following along, you know that because I'm a woman doing radiation who will eventually go through chemotherapy, I had the lovely opportunity to freeze my eggs before chemo renders them unusable.

Today, they successfully retrieved 17 eggs. Not a bad sacrifice to The Matrix. I am waiting to hear back which ones are actually viable. They do say statistically it’ll be 90 ish % so maybe it’ll be like 13-14 eggs in reality? Whatever, I am happy to learn that this is twice the average for a woman my age (41 to be exact). Yay for being fertile myrtle.

Honestly, every time I think about egg retrieval, I picture that scene in The Matrix where all the humans are plugged into the machines. I can't help it—especially since I rewatched the movie about a month ago.

How I imagine my eggs are… plugged into The Matrix

Now I'm hanging out and waiting for my radiation appointment because, despite going under anesthesia and having an invasive procedure this morning, radiation doesn't stop. Thankfully, week two has been going smoothly. My energy levels still feel normal, so I've been using the time to prep for shooting two scenes from my proof-of-concept short, Tumi & Me, next weekend.

In the meantime, I could use a little help. I'm looking for one meal plus crafty for a cast and crew of 10 for one shoot day. If anyone has basic G&E gear, a decent camera, or lights they're willing to lend, we'd be incredibly grateful. The plan is to shoot on August 2. Thank you to everyone who have helped donate thus far! I really really appreciate it. Every email notification makes me smile and brings up my spirits.

Filmmaking and writing have always been my creative therapy—my lifeblood. Now more than ever, I'm excited to pour my energy into something that's entirely my own and reclaim a little piece of control.

Thank you to everyone who's continued to show up for me, follow this journey, and support me. It means more than I can say.

Week 2 of radiation is almost done. My eggs are frozen. I still feel great. Thank goodness. ❤️
